چکیده

In the last years, computers became a useful tool in some mathematical proofs. We argue that modern computer algebra systems simplify this work. Their usefulness can be demonstrated on recent results in quantum logic theory. We give two examples of highly nontrivial mathematical results which required computer veriication that was performed by CASs. 1 The structure of quantum logic Looking for the appropriate algebraic structure describing the events of a quantum mechanical system, Birkhoo and von Neumann 1] suggested the notion of orthomodular lattice. This structure possesses a common generalization of Boolean algebras and lattices of closed subspaces of Hilbert spaces. We refer to 5] for the basic information about orthomodular lattices. Let us rst review basic notions as we shall use them in the sequel. An orthomodular lattice is a lattice L with a least and a greatest element (denoted by 0, 1, respectively) and with a unary operation 0 (orthocomplemen-tation) satisfying the following properties for all a; b 2 L: 1. (a 0) 0 = a, 2. a b =) b 0 a 0 , 3. a _ a 0 = 1, 4. a b =) b = a _ (b ^ a 0). The authors gratefully acknowledge the support of the project no. VS96049 of the Czech Ministry of Education.

EQ-logics with delta connective

In this paper we continue development of formal theory of a special class offuzzy logics, called EQ-logics. Unlike fuzzy logics being extensions of theMTL-logic in which the basic connective is implication, the basic connective inEQ-logics is equivalence. Therefore, a new algebra of truth values calledEQ-algebra was developed. This is a lower semilattice with top element endowed with two binary...

Probability in quantum computation and quantum computational logics: a survey

Quantum computation and quantum computational logics give rise to some non-standard 12 probability spaces that are interesting from a formal point of view. In this framework, events 13 represent quantum pieces of information (qubits , quregisters , mixtures of quregisters), while 14 operations on events are identified with quantum logic gates (which correspond to dynamic 15 reversible quantum p...

Exploring and Exploiting Quantum-Dot Cellular Automata

The Full Adders (FAs) constitute the essential elements of digital systems, in a sense that they affect the circuit parameters of such systems. With respect to the MOSFET restrictions, its replacement by new devices and technologies is inevitable. QCA is one of the accomplishments in nanotechnology nominated as the candidate for MOSFET replacement. In this article 4 new layouts are presente...

A Theory of Distributed Systems

The theory θ presented here is the smallest theory in the temporal logic TLB [10] that all distributed systems, according to our definition of a distributed system, must satisfy. θ is an instance of the classical modal logic S4.2. The central theorems of θ are stated here without proof. Proofs will appear in [10]. Logics like TLA [14] and TLRCS [18] are used for specifying computer programs and...

Binary Multirelations

Binary multirelations associate elements of a set with its subsets; hence they are binary relations of type A × 2. Applications include alternating automata, models and logics for games, program semantics with dual demonic and angelic nondeterministic choices and concurrent dynamic logics. This proof document supports an arXiv article that formalises the basic algebra of multirelations and prop...
